Shhhhh....a silent auction!

We are holding in a silent auction for CLEO at VIN12. It will be held on Mission and 2nd Street, Thursday,  August 18th, 2010. We have jewelry, dinner passes, VIN12 passes, art, and a few other goodies. Please come if you want to sample a bunch of local wines - entry is $25 and well worth it.

Miss Cleo got her splint removed about a week and half ago. The x-rays show that she's growing new bone in the right place!  Since then, there's been a little limping but she's definitely gaining more strength every day and is more or less back to herself.

"That foul you smell is love."

Over the weekend I contemplated the fact that it had been one month since all this happened to Cleo, to us and how much has changed (or stayed the same...) Being a new couple, living together for the first time - that in itself has its challenges. Then going through such a stressful situation, one of life and death of a four legged family member (yet another test given by Mr. Life),  made me thankful to have a wonderful partner, a charmingly sweet pup and appreciative of all the generous people in my family & community.

Anyway, what I really meant to blog about was this crazy new dog food we've been trying out since Cleo's chicken and rice buffet at 1340 (our house) closed up shop. I think its called Taste of the Wild and well, they weren't kidding. It has various organic ingredients and "foul". We've discovered that the foul goes right through Cleo and floats around the room for several minutes.

Happy Birthday CLEO!

Today is Cleo's birthday. She's 10 years old.  This photo was taken last year, while "drinking" a waggin' tail ale chew toy. Even though she's currently laid up with her bright yellow cast, she seems to be in good spirits and enjoyed her walks around the neighborhood today. A few guys lit off some fireworks as we were walking by, which was a little scary, but we made it past without any harm. Whew!

Round & Round!
This is our new theme song. When we go out for walks, she's the pup with the wonky wheel! Cleo definitely favors the non-splinted leg and going for a walk is a dizzying project. One step. She turns in a circle. Two steps. Turn in a circle. When we get into the house she often turns in a circle up the stairs. It is kind of entertaining and also maddening. The other day I walked her all the way around the block - on the same side of the street - just so she would be entertained by buildings to sniff as it discouraged her from turning in so many circles.

Rayn helped us out by pupsitting last night and took some great pictures of Cle-ow. He posted them online...I think she's a natural!

Today we took Cleo to Irving Pet Hospital to get her stitches out and a new splint for her paw. Things are going well. We didn't get her out of the house first thing in the morning and she took a pee in the hallway. (I really need to invest in Stainmaster carpet company.) The new cast is quite fetching, matches her spots!

Here are a few photos of some get well cards and other funny items on our coffee table. The coasters put a great spin no pun intended) on Cleo's story. They are too small see here - but they are Chariots of Fire, Fame, Footloose and Up the Creek. Ha!

She went for a longer than normal walk today, making a giant U - down our block to the corner and across the street, up the block and cutting across the street back to our house. She tried to take a paw at my monthly accruals, but that made her sleepy. It's okay Cleo, my accruals make me sleepy too.

Rest. There's been a lot of this going on - which is great - she needs it. Sitting up is a bit difficult and sometimes painful, but for the most part, we get lots of tail wags and recognition of her surroundings. She's been eating for two days and took her first poop today, after a week. We love poop. These are good things!

Check out her shaved belly!

This was taken earlier last week. Her tummy was pretty bloated, as she had 5 lbs (!!!) of urine in her abdomen! These were not happy days. Tiger didn't even excite her.

Photo after the vet fix-up after her first jump. Cute splint, unfortunately it wasn't lucky!

She hates that lampshade. I do too and dread the upcoming days that we will need to use it.
